Peter Pan

One of my husband's favorite Disney movies is Peter Pan. The whimsical story line revolves around a young boy who lives in Neverland, a place where he has little responsibility and no one to force him to grow up. Deep down, I think Jimmy wishes he could be like Peter, spending the days fighting off pirates and taking part in adventures. No work. No worries. Just play.

Last night, after a 3 a.m. feeding with the baby, I realized that Jimmy looks most like a kid when he's sleeping. He was wrapped up in the comforter with his long legs hanging off the side of the bed. His hair was perfectly disheveled and he had the smallest trace of a smile on his face. I could tell he was dreaming. When I placed baby Jimmy in the crib next to our bed, I noticed a similar sleeping position and innocent look on his face. The resemblance between the two was uncanny. How had I never noticed this before?

There are lots of traits I hope the baby takes from his dad, but his innocence and love for adventure and life is definitely one I pray he acquires. I wouldn't mind having two Peter Pans in my house. :)
