I couldn't prepare myself.
And then it happened.
It was silent, but oh so deadly.
If you're thinking of a foul odor from someone in my house who has "tooted," this is one of the very few occasions when you will be wrong.
Jackson's personality has really started to develop these past few weeks, and we are learning a lot about the baby of the family.
To start, he doesn't want to be the baby of the family. He wants to do everything his big brother does, whether it be read, walk, drink from a sippy cup, make people laugh or climb things. It's adorable to watch him imitate Jimmy's every move, but at the same time, he also has some very distinct qualities about him.
One of those, that Jimmy didn't possess, is his ability to be silent but deadly. If you take your eyes off the little guy for even a second, he will as quietly as possible crawl under things, over things, and hide. He knows exactly what he shouldn't get in to, and he goes straight for it. He's also a biter. We usually know when new teeth have popped through by the bite marks he leaves on our arms, legs, and various parts of his brother's body. Thankfully, Jimmy is understanding and only offers up a firm, "no" when Jackson starts to bite, but we are really having a tough time teaching him that biting is not a substitute for hugs and kisses. Last week we found out two new teeth have come through, giving him six total. When he comes in for a big bite, it always seems to take us by surprise because at the last moment he leads with his mouth and chomps down with lightning speed.
He's mischievous and plots as much as a 10 month old is capable. I've found him wedged between furniture, inside kitchen cabinets, half-way under a bed, and up a few stairs. He moves quick and he's swift, leaving no tracks.
I thought wrong about my sweet little baby. He's now known as the "silent but deadly" one of the house, because you never know what that mischievous little guy will get into next. Just look at that adorable little face...but don't be fooled for too long, because he's just waiting to catch you off guard. :)
